RULES OF THE ROAD
Weston Roads Trust roadways are private. Only residents, their guests, service providers, and other approved users have the right to access these roads. Use of these roads by non-residents as a cut-through is considered trespassing.
Access & Use
The following groups have unrestricted access to the Trust roads:
Property Owners (e.g., “Beneficiaries”) and their guests
Weston Golf Club members, guests, and employees
Meadowbrook School traffic, including staff and student drop-offs
Essential service providers, including:
Landscaping crews
Contractors and tradespeople
Domestic help
Police and fire
Delivery drivers (e.g., USPS, UPS, Amazon)
School buses
Guests and visitors of residents
Utility vehicles (e.g., National Grid)
Traffic Challenges
Cut-through traffic—particularly during morning rush hour—has historically been a concern. To address this, the Trust installed speed bumps that have helped deter non-resident use by making travel less convenient.
While traffic enforcement has been attempted in the past (e.g., police details and stop points), these efforts had limited impact. Most drivers claimed to be permitted users, and fewer than 3% were turned away. Due to the cost and low effectiveness, such efforts were discontinued.
Security & Enforcement
While hiring a private security firm or sheriff detail has been considered, no decisions have been made. Any such step would require support from all residents. This would be considered a special project requiring additional research and potentially increased funding to maintain.
Signage
Current signage aims to clearly communicate that these are private roads. The Trust continues to evaluate ways to improve signage effectiveness without overcomplicating the message.
